OFF-PLAN

Oqood

The DLD’s interim registration for off-plan purchases in Dubai. When you buy off-plan, the sale is registered as an Oqood contract (Arabic for “contracts”) against the unit, for a fee of 4% of price, and converts to a full title deed at handover.

The Oqood certificate is your proof of ownership during construction and what makes a pre-handover resale (assignment) possible. Check it is actually issued after booking; a developer who has not registered your Oqood within the promised window is a red flag worth escalating.

This explains the general case. If Oqood has come up in a live deal of yours, talk to the team: specific answers, registered numbers, no obligation.
