Power of Attorney (POA)

A notarised document letting someone act for you in a UAE property transaction: sign contracts, attend the transfer, collect cheques. Widely used by overseas owners. It must be UAE-notarised, or notarised abroad, attested, and legally translated into Arabic before the DLD accepts it.
The DLD reads POAs narrowly: a general POA may be rejected for a sale if it does not explicitly mention selling property. Have the POA drafted to name the specific powers and, ideally, the specific property. Trustee offices also check the POA’s age; older than two years often triggers extra verification with the notary.
