OWNERSHIP & TENURE

Freehold

Full ownership of a property and its share of the land, forever, registered in your name with the land department. In the UAE, foreign nationals can buy freehold in designated zones, most of new Dubai and investment areas of Abu Dhabi, with no residency requirement.

Freehold is inheritable and mortgageable, and since 2019 non-Muslims can register wills (DIFC or Dubai Courts) governing UAE assets. Whether a specific building is in a freehold zone is a registry fact, not a listing claim; it is worth verifying on anything unusual.
