Post-dated cheques

Also searched as: rent cheques

The standard way UAE rent is paid: the tenant hands over one to twelve cheques dated across the year. Fewer cheques usually buys a lower rent; “1 cheque” tenants have the strongest negotiating position.

A bounced rent cheque is a civil matter with real consequences, so never write cheques against money that will not be there. Digital alternatives (direct debit platforms) are growing but cheques still dominate; factor the cheque count into any rent comparison.
